Half English, half Filipino, but all geek, Steve Russell was born and raised in Hong Kong before moving to the UK at the tail end of 1999.
He often likens himself to a nerdy nomad—a writing ronin, if you will; a lost boy who finally found his tribe when surrounded by fellow geeks. He also learned how to refer to himself in the third person courtesy of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
A Film and TV Production graduate from the University of Westminster, where he specialised in screenwriting, Steve wears his pop cultural influences unapologetically on his sleeve, a fact that is highlighted in his writing as he sprinkles in references to all the things that shaped him—from professional wrestling and Ninja Turtles, to pop punk, video games and beyond.
He is a passionate purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, has an affinity for podcasts, and currently resides in South East London where he writes and freelances as a copywriter, screenwriter, and content producer.
